A day at Perisher

We took a day trip up to Perisher today.  It was a big day, we left the house at 8am and got in at 9pm, but so worth it.  We rented skis for Jackson and Josie and took them up the mountain and down one of the green slopes, with Rich and I snowboarding alongside them.  They did so well, by the end both of them were getting down easily without falling over.

We managed about 3 runs all together before Richard managed to loose his ski pass, so that left me with Jack and Josie on the next run.  That was a bit of challenge as Jackson just took off, but I sent Richard a text and he looked out for him at the bottom.  Josie then decided she was just too cold, so Jackson and I continued for a couple more runs.  On the last run, Jackson got off the chairlift and just took off, the perils of snowboarding meant I had to bind in and then I had to board as fast as I could to catch up!

When we got back to the car, the temperature was -2oc so we cranked up the heater and started the slow (behind lots of cars with chains on) drive back to Jindabyne to drop off the skis and then on to home.

Nearly there, it was a slow drive up

Josie knackered after a big day on the slopes!

And another slow drive home

And a couple of videos, the first of Josie with me following close behind, and the second is Jackson

Winter pool party

Jackson had a pool birthday party today at one of the local caravan parks.  Great morning for it, and the weather was perfect, a nice sunny morning just before a big cold front comes through this afternoon.

Trip to the Aquarium

School holidays here, so have been doing a few local activities.  The other day I took J and J to the aquarium to watch the fish feeding.  Great morning out.

Winter sun

After a lazy morning at home we all decided to take a stroll down to Dolphin Cove to kick a ball around and do handstands.  Amazing winter weather.

South Durras

Its school holidays here at the moment so we thought we would take the caravan on a road trip.  We originally intended on going for the whole holidays and heading as far north as we could (we had plans of getting to Byron Bay), but Richard got a new job and has a handover meeting the second week, and I got a new job too and I also have a meeting the second week, so we cut our trip short to the first week only.

As we didn't want to spend the whole holidays in the car, we decided to check out some of the coast between here and Sydney.  First stop - South Durras, which is just north of Batemans Bay.  We found a fantastic caravan park which bordered on the Murramarang National Park, the caravan park was really quiet, it had a kids club, restaurant, bar, pool and playground, and we ended up finding so much to do in the surrounding area we decided just to stay there.

Jack and Josie went to kids club every day, made a variety of crafty things and got to play some great games, and in the evenings they had family bingo and also family trivia.  Good fun.  We also tried out their pizza/pasta special night in the restaurant.

In the mornings and afternoons we went for walks in the nearby national park, went into Batemans Bay (and checked out the HUGE new Bunnings!), went to Mogo for some cool shopping, Milton to a nice cafe, and we also climbed Pigeon House mountain - which was very steep but had spectacular views.

It got cold though (with frost on the ground and ice on the car this morning), so we were glad we had our little fan heater in the caravan.  Cold nights, but nice sunny days (...well apart from a brief hail storm!)

A great week away.

 Sunrise - day 1

Off for an early morning walk on the beach

Both were determined to get in the pool....

....and Jackson did - not for long though!

 Another early morning walk

 Chilling in the caravan

Writing their travel journals

Yum - pizza/pasta night at the restaurant

 Another sunrise

Climbing the steep track up to the top of Pigeon House Mountain

Thats Pigeon House Mountain behind J and J to the left

And the track got significantly steeper!

 But the views were amazing
