Thredbo
We had an awesome week skiing and snowboarding in Thredbo. We stayed in Thredbo town which meant it was just a short walk (... and about 150 steps!) to the nearest chairlift - or you could take the bus. We spent every day on the slopes and had perfect weather. Jackson significantly improved his snowboarding and was taking on jumps and off piste sections by the end of the week, and Josie was parallel skiing and taking on the 'box' by the end of the week too - super proud of them both.

Kid talk
Kids were watching TV and Dangermouse came on, I started singing the Dangermouse song...
Jackson "how do you know this song?"
Me "I used to watch this show when I was a kid"
Jackson "what did it look like?"
Me (looking at the tv) "pretty similar to that actually"
Jackson "so pretty similar to that, just in black and white"

Volcano Project
Jackson and Wyatt worked together for a school project on natural disasters. They chose to do a volcano and after 3 weekends of work, they produced a pretty impressive diorama.
Multicultural Public Speaking
Merimbula Public School got students to take part in a multicultural speaking competition again this year. The students all had to prepare a 2 or 4 minute (depending on your year group) talk about multiculturalism, selecting a topic and presenting it to their class.
Josie chose 'kid power' and Jackson chose 'colour blindness'. Both won in their classes and had to compete against other students in their stage, this time presenting their prepared speech, but also delivering an impromptu speech on the day (with only 5 minutes prep time). Josie came a close third and Jackson won. So Jackson went on to represent the school at the local competition at Tathra School. He won that too, so now he is off to Wollongong to represent the Far South Coast.
