An overnight hike along the Light to Light track

Rich and I decided, somewhat apprehensively, that it would be a 'fun' thing to go for a hike along the Light to Light track in the Ben Boyd National Park, camp overnight and then walk back.  I say apprehensively as we had no idea how Jackson and Josie would go, hiking for 4 km on a bush track carrying their own backpacks, and then hiking the same 4km back again.

It actually went extremely well, far far better than I expected.  On the way out they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves, Josie chatted literally the whole way, and Jackson was keen on finding the posts and pointers that told us which way to go.  Upon reaching our campsite at Hegartys Bay, which can only be accessed via this walking track, we set up camp, started a fire, had dinner, toasted marshmallows and went to bed.

In the morning we watched the sunrise over the ocean, had weetbix, packed up, picked numerous ticks off each other, and left.  The hike back was harder for both of them on tired legs, but both managed it - with the help of chocolate and lollies!  We finished the walk with a splash in the water before heading home.   All of us knackered!

Day trip to Narooma

We thought we would take a day trip up to Narooma last week, we have passed through Narooma a few times on the Princes Highway but never really explored the town.  We found a great kids playground, had lunch at a park overlooking the river inlet and then took the bikes along a boardwalk.  Then we stopped at historic Central Tilba for an ice cream on the way back.
