Athletics Carnival

Jackson had his school athletics carnival today, he is in the kookaburras (green team).  Todays events consisted of a running race, a shotput event, long jump, high jump and hammer throw!  He had a great time, and was thoroughly excited to make the finals in the running race, coming 4th in the final.

Coming 2nd in the first heat of the running race
Very happy with his shotput result!
 High jump
Nose dive...this shot makes me giggle each time I look at it!

Gillards Beach

We checked out another beach we haven't been to yet on Sunday, this one about 30 minutes from home in the Mimosa Rocks National Park.  It had a great national parks campsite there, lovely grassy sites with amazing beach views.  We will definitely go back to camp sometime soon.

Our land

Today was settlement day for a block of land we have bought in Tura Beach.  The flat, 900sqm block backs onto acres and acres of reserve, with huge open spaces to kick a footy or ride a bike, as well as bushland.  Its a 5 minute walk through the bush to our local beach, so we are pretty excited about living here.  Now we begin the process of putting a house on it....

Dorothy the Dinosaur

Dorothy the Dinosaur came to Merimbula, and Josie and I bought tickets.  Josie LOVED it, she spent the whole concert dancing.

The cousins

The cousins came to stay for a few days in these school holidays.  Everyone enjoyed hanging out.  This was taken whilst on a bush and beach walk near Bournda Island.

Ski Trip

We just got home from a quick ski trip to Thredbo/Perisher, staying in Jindabyne.

Day 1 saw us go to Thredbo.  Jackson and Josie did their first ski lesson in the afternoon, whilst Richard and I went snowboarding.  The lesson went well, Jackson learnt how to snowplough (which he called the 'triangle') and doing airplane arms to turn, Josie also learnt how to snowplough (which she called the 'bear trap'), and she was very excited she got to ride in the ski train.  In summary they both did really well and both seemed to enjoy it.  Rich and I definitely enjoyed our snowboarding, even if the snow was somewhat lacking!!  After the kids lessons, they had a kids concert and both Jack and Jo got up on the stage to dance!!  Apres-ski, kids style!

Day 2 saw us go to Perisher.  We took Jackson and Josie's skis up so they could show us what they learnt.  Then hot drinks and hot chips at the cafe, before heading out for some tobogganing.  On the way back to Jindabyne we stopped for a lovely bush/snow walk.

 Ready for their lesson

Granjen and Granglen

Richard's parents packed up their car and caravan and left Perth at the end of April for a trip around Australia, they pulled up at the Merimbula caravan park at the end of May and left this week.  It has been great seeing them and hanging out over the last month.  Jackson and Josie loved hanging out with their Granjen and Granglen. They are on their way back to Perth now, via Canberra, the Murray River, central Australia, Darwin and Northern WA.
