Snow in London

Woke up Wednesday morning to a blanket of snow over everything, even snowed in central London. It melted by midday, but was pretty whilst it lasted.

One Year On

A year ago we were celebrating our first day as a married couple in beautiful south west Australia, enjoying sunny skies and warm temperatures. So what better way to celebrate one year on by spending a weekend in wet, cloudy, damp New Forest in Hampshire. New Forest was the first National Park in England and was started up by William I who enjoyed shooting deer. Just before dusk the sun broke through and we were able to see wild deer grazing. Ems enjoyed her first year having to look after her husband who due to a persistent back problem (herniated disc – waiting for MRI to confirm) walks around more like an 80 year old. I, on the other hand, enjoyed being looked after by the most caring, wonderful wife anyone could possibly ask for. We also enjoyed some Wise Wine courtesy of Tony and Val to celebrate a year on.

We just got back from a weeks snowboarding in St Anton, Austria. Travelling with Sarah, David, from Ems work, Jason (Sarah's Boyfriend) and Ash (Rich's Brother) we had a great time. The snow was on the low side, but considering how little snow the area had it was incredible how good the conditions of the pistes were. Sarah and Jason were trying snowboarding for the first time and Ash was riding for the first time in over 5 years. They all did so well and were flying by the end of the week. Ash seemed to be a day behind in his purchasing of body armour. i.e: buying arse protection on a Wednesday having had fallen badly on his arse on the Tuesday!

The "Apre ski" in St Anton is great. A definite highlight is heading to the "Krazy Kangaroo" for several rounds. the best way to get there is to ride. Then, once you are suitably lubricated you get to strap back into your board and ride the run down to the resort, IN THE DARK! Great fun (I can say that now that no one in our party broke any bones on the way down!)

Rich's back has just survived... I'm getting an MRI scan in the next few weeks, and based on that, we will plan our next snowboarding trip... Easter? Ahh, JOY!
